REMEMBERING
BRANDON RICHIE

Brandon Michael Richie, beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on August 14, 2023, at the age of 36. Born on January 23, 1987, in Charlotte, NC, Brandon brought joy and inspiration to those around him throughout his remarkable life.
Brandon was a dedicated and hardworking individual who excelled in his professional endeavors. He was currently employed with Capitol Broadcasting Company, where he made valuable contributions to the organization. Prior to his current role, Brandon devoted fifteen years of his career to Piedmont Plastics in Charlotte, NC. His commitment to his work was unwavering, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Outside of his professional achievements, Brandon was a man of extraordinary talent and diverse interests. He possessed an innate musical ability that enthralled audiences whenever he took the stage. As a founding member and frontman of the Fifty Flies band, Brandon's passion for music was evident in every captivating performance. In addition to his musical prowess, he also displayed exceptional athleticism, standing out as an outstanding athlete in various pursuits. Brandon even held the title of axe throwing champion, further showcasing his unique skills and determination.
While his accomplishments were noteworthy, Brandon will be cherished most for the love and joy he brought to his family and friends. He is survived by his adored son, Collin Scott Richie, his loving mother, Karen Burns Richie, his supportive brother Ryan Richie (Danelle), and his caring sister Amelia Richie Kivett (Jason). Brandon's aunts, Cindy Barringer, Janet Burns, and Melinda Burns, and uncles, Chip Barringer, Glenn Burns, and Norman Burns, also mourn his loss. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved grandfather, Charles E. Richie and grandmother, Nancy McBride who held a special place in his heart.
Brandon's departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we gather to honor his memory, visitation will be held on Saturday August 26th from 12-2pm, followed by a service at 2pm, at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church located at 6401 Hickory Grove, NC 28215.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Brandon's name. These contributions will honor his memory and support the community that meant so much to him.
Brandon Michael Richie will forever remain in our hearts, his spirit serving as a reminder of his extraordinary talents, his unwavering dedication, and the love he shared with all those fortunate enough to have known him. May he find eternal peace and rest in the arms of his Heavenly Father.

Iron Axe Society "Clean It Up" Classic Tournament
Saturday September 30th

This tournament was created to celebrate the life of Brandon Richie, a fellow member of our axe community. Richie was an avid axe thrower and a natural at the sport. His home venue was Iron Axe Society, where he coached and became a certified WATL Judge. He also competed in tournaments and weekly leagues. Richie’s compassion and kindness towards others will live on forever, as will his infectious humor. He also motivated fellow axe throwers to do better, or “Clean It Up!” All proceeds from this tournament will go to his 5 year old son, Collin.
